In 2011, Rihanna and Calvin Harris released a song called ‘We Found Love’ where they comment on finding love in a ‘hopeless place’. In the same year, Jinhee and Lukas had a fairly similar experience, meeting each other in one of the world’s most conservative and most male-dominated societies, Qatar. From a chance encounter in the Sheraton Doha, we started a whirlwind romance that could scarcely have been more complicated.

Jinhee was working as a Korean cabin crew for Qatar Airways while Lukas was working on a consulting project for a local bank for McKinsey & Company. After almost a year of short distances in the Middle East, Lukas moved back to Europe and started his MBA in Singapore shortly after. Jinhee stayed back in Doha and we kept meeting anywhere that was within about an 8 hour radius for both of us. Three years and more than twenty countries later, we find ourselves finally ready to tie the knot and to properly live in the same place.
